Via Dolorosa was formed the 15 of October 2004 by Everman and Doris. The society was in the beginning formed around friends of Everman and Doris and a few other key members of the Old Alpha society. Today the society has members from a broad spectrum of EU participants.

Self supported
All members can provide for themselves, and are not dependent on any other member or provider.

Our society name
The name Via Dolorosa was taken from Via Dolorosa (Latin for "Way of Grief or the way of Pain"). It's a street in the Old City of Jerusalem. Traditionally, it is held to be the path that Jesus walked on the way to his crucifixion.

Via Dolorosa lives through the changes of Entropia Universe
Via Dolorosa is not a religious society. We chose the name Via Dolorosa to emphasize the effort you have to make in Entropia Universe. The heart and soul of the society is the willingness to participate and live through the changes in the world of Entropia Universe. We don't let frustration and anger entice our minds but work together for adaptation and understanding. Life in EU as we see it, is a road full of suffering (bad loot, costly, time consuming etc.) just for the pleasure or satisfaction of progression, reaching another level, get another skill, get a HoF or maybe a ATH. We are always looking forward to exploring the new frontlines of Entropia Universe.

We having fun
To be part of the Via Dolorosa society you have to agree to the way of suffering (see explanation above), where your efforts might not result in famous and glory over night. We participate together in Entropia Universe to have fun and enjoy each others company. At the same time we are individuals with goals of our own. There will always be a social aspect but there are no obligations to participate in any event or contribute in any form.

Democratic society
We are a democratic society, and nothing we decide is forced upon any member. We do things in full cooperation and understanding for both individual and the common good.

Via Dolorosa - The way of pain... Strange name for a society that expects to have fun, isn't it? Yes, maybe at first thought. But, think about it. What do we do to have fun, to find satisfaction in life?  Sports? Well, that I know is painful! A lot of people do it anyway just to feel good, get satisfaction! Vacation? How much stress and frustration don't we go through the day(s) before a vacation, all just to have a nice time and some fun? Advancement at work? You go on courses and study in the evenings pushing yourself to get a new work and/or higher pay. Life, is a road of pain just for the pleasure or satisfaction of progression.

Project Entropia (EU) offer an ever changing world. It also is way beyond the usual mmorgs where you can skill up as easy as you can buy a hamburger at McDonalds. Your progression depends on time, money, endurance and ability to adapt to new situations. Just as in real life it may feel like everything works against you now and then. Changes in the rules of how the universen behaves may almost feel like they are maybe just to work against you!

There are several ways to handle these situations. You can sit back and cry out your anger, filling the forums with whining. You can quit or take a long break moaning about the evilness in the universe. You can weave far fetching conspiracy theories about it all being an evil plan for get your money...or you can walk the path of Via Dolorosa where a painful adversity is seen with eyes that always are on look-out for new opportunities beyond...
